| The Trappist monastery of Orval was started around 1070 however the brewery is considerably younger. The Monks looked to beer in the 1930's as a source of revenue to help the running of the monastery. Orval is one of the 6 brewery's that can officially be classified as 'Trappist' This beer is their only product. It has a distinctive orangey colour when poured. and like most ales of this style is very susceptible to light and heat. Let it stand for at least 24 hours before opening and serve at cellar temperature. |
