Rodenbach is arguably the most famous producer of Flanders red ales. The grand cru would be described as 'old' beer as it aged in Brandy casks for up to 2 years before bottling. This period in the cask imparts not only a reddish hue to the beer but also a 'tart' sourness that is a great counterbalance for the sweetness of the malt. | ||
